Al Gore on averting climate crisis

Summary:
Al Gore is once the US Vice President that is committed to focus on the climate change. In this video, he is talking about what we can do about the climate crisis. He explains some ways that people can address climate change. He shows some images from a slide show that the new temperature records in January from USA. There is more global warming pollution that comes from buildings than from cars and trucks. He suggests inventing a better design; buy green electricity where you can. Considering what you can do at home to reduce emissions, most of these expenditures are also profitable. Think of some other better alternative, it is very important. As a green consumer, you have choices with everything you buy from having a harsh effect to a less harsh effect on the global climate crisis. Options before doing that as much as possible to reduce carbon dioxide emissions, and also acquire for those who do not make the right decision to reduce the pollution. We support the call for global warming on carbon dioxide emissions and the concept of pollution. Also, there is a carbon calculator, you can calculate what your CO2 emissions are and be given options to reduce.

Response:
The impact of global warming has a direct relationship with human life. Excessive carbon dioxide emissions that cause climate change are now a great threat to the survival of humanity on the planet. Now people should increase the awareness of environmental protection. In our daily life, there are many ways to reduce carbon dioxide emissions. First, less use of private cars, choose to walk or take public transportation, so that not only exercise the body, but also a good way to low-carbon life. Then, use handkerchiefs instead of paper towels that may help the forests ‘protection. Furthermore, turning off lights, switch, pull the plug, and do not turn off electrical appliances frequently. Last, minimize the use of disposable toothbrush, disposable plastic bags and disposable cups. We need to work together to care for our planet. Let’s start from the side of the small things around us that make our life better: resource conservation and reducing energy consumption.

  1. I agree with Iris’ view about the issue of global warming, which affects the human life and nature as well. Scientific inventions make our lives comfortable, but we never think about their effects on nature. For fulfillment of our needs, we are just cutting the trees rapidly and this is resulted in deforestation. Due to deforestation and industrialization, the percentage of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere has increased. In India, there was a movement started in the early 1970s in Himalayas called ‘Chipko Movement’ to save the trees. Literal meaning of word ‘Chipko’ is to stick and in this movement, the villagers mainly women from so many villages went into the jungles of Himalayas and everyone stick to every tree by hugging to save the trees from the contractors. In addition, Chipko Movement was spread throughout the India. Sunderlal Bahuguna was the founder of this movement. Today, every country not only the India needs this type of movement to save the trees. As a parent, we should teach our children about the steps to save our nature. We should use public transport and stop the usage of plastic bags, glasses, plates, and so on. By doing this, we will provide good environment to our next generations.

  2. I am afraid of global warming effects. As we can see in movies, global warming is melting the ice in North Pole and this melting ice will increase sea level which cause flooding. It will not be as bad as movies, but flooding brings problems; for example disease, homelessness, and lack of food. Another complication that cause by global warming is the world getting hotter and hotter. This will not be difficulties for some countries, but in some countries for instance middle-east countries or Asia countries it could be a big problem for them. This problem is people are because the weather is too hot, which happened in India (I do not sure about the country). Therefore, we have to help our world by using less energy and produce less carbon dioxide gas.

  3. Good topic and good response. If you're interested in this topic, you should watch Al Gore's award winning movie, "An Inconvenient Truth".
